Daniel's path toward Kangaroo began as a student of Mechanical Engineering and Society with a focus on design and manufacturing at McMaster University. He credits the Engineering & Society programme for expanding his views on how engineering can positively contribute to the world, and challenging him to think outside the box to develop creative solutions. He then obtained his Master of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto where, under the supervision of Prof. William L. Cleghorn and Dr. Jan Andrysek, he developed, designed, and clinically tested a novel low-cost, prosthetic knee joint. Daniel joined Kangaroo in May of 2010 as a mechanical engineer with a focus on the development of the Certo Automated Extraction instrument.

When he's not working away at Kangaroo, Daniel is an avid cyclist, ultimate Frisbee player, and oboist with the Hart House Orchestra. He also enjoys canoeing, photography, cooking, and playing the guitar.
