James has contributed to multiple technology start-ups in the roles of founder, inventor, executive, designer, investor and venture capitalist. His expertise has crossed industries with involvement in telecom, wireless, and medical device companies including Paramax, Texar, Edge Networks, Sybridge Networks, Broadband Networks, Nortel, Iris Systems, Photonami, Esion Networks, Extreme Packet Devices and IMRIS. James has filed over 15 patents and has written 10 peer publications.

As a VC, he provided VP Technology expertise for Centara Corporation from 1999 to 2001, and as an executive he provided VP level management for Nortel, IMRIS and Broadband Networks.  His current interest is the development of innovation networks and sub-VC opportunities - those ideas and market opportunities that are not large enough for full VC funding, but which are appropriate for development and sale into companies with existing product lines.
